Petition for Russian: http://chn.ge/1geyoiD

Uri Zvi Grinberg  lived in Lvov since the age of eighteen months until 24 years. There his work as the national Jewish poet began which had made a big contribution in the creation of the State of Israel and the rebirth of the Hebrew language. There all his family perished: his father, mother, and six sisters with their families.

The realization of this project is especially important in view of the Poet 120th anniversary to be celebrated in the year 2016.

We live now in the period of awakening of increased interest of people and the state in their national roots which is especially felt in the Western Ukraine. Establishing of a memorial sign for the greatest national Jewish poet on the Ukrainian soil where he was born will be a noble act demonstrating the mutual respect and social and cultural contacts between the Jewish and Ukrainian peoples and national states.

The idea is not original: it has been the dream of the Jerusalem  Uri  Zvi Grinberg  Legacy House founders and managers: Geula Cohen and Inna Vinyarsky as well as poet’s widow Aliza Tur-Malka. They all are far from being young and we would like it very much if they see the project realized “in this world.”

What makes this case special is that our noble dreamers would like its realization not as a result of a private initiative but rather that of the participation of official national structures of Ukraine and Israel. We are therefore asking  all to disseminate this Petition as wide as possible.
