The government has spent four years telling northerners we live in a powerhouse.

In reality it treats us like second class citizens, with a second class, secondhand transport network.

We are sick of cancellations, delays and rail replacement buses.

We are sick of 'sorry for the inconvenience'.

We are sick of London being put first, a city with TWO shiny new high-speed lines in the pipeline while we make do with cramming into its old carriages - if they arrive - after waiting on ageing, unsafe platforms.

Government: enough is enough. We are sick of your warm words.

You promised us a northern powerhouse.

So build it.

We want:

• immediate action to end the Northern Rail crisis - not just an 'inquiry'
• immediate introduction of a proper compensation scheme, within days not weeks
• ALL major northern transport promises gathering dust on the transport secretary's desk to finally be agreed
• new high-speed northern lines BEFORE Crossrail 2
• the same transport funding as London
