Why this petition matters

Started by Emma Clifford

The Social Care system is crisis, both locally and nationally. We in the Labour party want to change that and ensure that our loved ones receive the best care they can get during their time of need.

In our 2017 Labour manifesto we vowed to support the principles of the Ethical Care Charter, which include: ending 15 minute care visits for washing and dressing, paying care workers to travel between service users, providing comprehensive training for care workers and reimbursing them properly for travel costs.

We believe that upholding these principles will vastly improve our Social Care system for people who need care, as well as Care Workers who provide that care day in, day out.

In 2013 a motion seeking the adoption of the Ethical Care Charter by the Tory led County Council was shamefully rejected.

With your support we intend to ask Gloucestershire County Council to search their consciences once again and adopt the principles of the Ethical Care Charter. Please show your support by signing our petition. Thank you.
