After today seeing Virat Kohli's thoughts on the 100-ball competition developed by the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) it has made me want to create this petition as I feel a lot of fans across the UK don't like the idea and feel it would be a 'disaster to cricket'. I'm one of them.

For starters ECB stated that they intend to make “cricket as simple as possible” so that even “mums and kids” might understand it. 1. How patronising can you get? and 2. I don't even understand it and I'm a fan of all the current forms of cricket. 100-ball cricket is a form of limited overs cricket, each team plays a single innings consisting of 15 traditional six-ball overs, and a 10-ball over, a 20-delivery shortfall on traditional twenty20 matches. A 10-ball over? So you're telling me that 20 traditional six-ball overs is more complicated than that tripe above? 

They are going on about trying to gain a new audience but how will you do that when the best players in the world don't even want to play? Virat Kohli today had this to say "Honestly, I don't want to be a testing sort of a cricketer for any new format. I don't want to be someone who's going to be part of that World XI who comes and launches the 100-ball format. I love playing the IPL, I love watching the BBL, because you're working towards something, competing against high-quality sides and it gets your competitive juices flowing. That's what you want as a cricketer. I'm all for the leagues, but not to experiment." The best cricketer on the planet doesn't want anything to do with it, so why would we the cricket fans be in favour of it? 

Dwayne Bravo another of the world's best T20 players doesn't like the idea. Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham was bemused on this move, stating why the ECB is trying something different, when the current format is so successful.

I'm a big fan of our Vitality Twenty20 Blast and think it has had a great year, if they could just add that little more glamour to it like The Big Bash and IPL it would definitely get a lot more interest than 'The 100'. With all the other cricket leagues and international cricket going on the world's best players won't even be available for it anyway. 

All four counties sold their allocated 500 tickets (that's another story altogether) for Finals day this year in about 10 minutes so what is wrong with what we already have? 

I could go on forever about how I feel it will impact counties and first-class four day cricket and many other issues I have with this whole 100 format. But if you are like me and just think it's a terrible idea, jut not cricket and something the ECB have got all wrong then please sign this petition and let's see if we can get something done about it. I would much prefer they work on making a better T20 competition than the one we already have than waste time with that nonsense. Thanks!
