Why this petition matters

Started by Keith Huser

The residents of Windsor Square and surrounding areas recently experienced a significant power outage and would like to see changes to the power grid, additional incentives to utilize alternative energy sources, and an update to the customer reporting and communication from DWP, and an increase in police presence during outages.

The ongoing power outages within our community are creating safety issues with street lights, stop lights, alarm systems, and have introduced many additional inconveniences and hazards.

Stop lights and street lights should be moved to solar and become less reliant or completely off the grid. Los Angeles has enough traffic issues as it is and needs no additional issues due to power outages.

The residents of Windsor Square and surrounding areas would like to see changes made to the Power Grid. The grid must be adequate enough to meet the highest demands. DWP should release a list of the issues with the grid and what recommendations and protocols can be enlisted to ensure future outages do not occur because of grid issues.

Community members would also like to see additional tax incentives provided for the use of alternative powers sources for Business Owners and Homeowners. Tax incentives should be increased to utilize energy-friendly lights, appliances, and more energy efficient windows.

The community would like to have an incentive program created to initiate homeowners and business owners to install solar power and other alternative energy sources. This should be a new initiative and should provide bigger tax breaks and incentives than what is currently in place.

The communication protocols with the DWP and the methods in which information was delivered was not adequate. There should be an update to communication methods and protocols and the community members should be allowed to vote on the new protocols.

A clear protocol defined by local police for future outages and a plan to encompass and include community members as part of an ongoing community crime watch.

We are petitioning Councilman David Ryu to present direct initiatives and incentives to his constituents.
