Latrobe Valley Sustainability Group (LVSG) has started this petition, in conjunction with 350.org's worldwide RISE FOR CLIMATE event on September 8th - a global day of action demanding real climate action solutions from local leaders. 

Hundreds of rallies in cities and towns around the world are asking every mayor, governor, and local leader in the world to make a bold climate commitment to help the world reach the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

No more stalling, no more delays: it’s time for a fast and fair transition to 100% renewable energy for all.

LVSG is requesting that Latrobe City Council incorporate the following values in its policy statements, ensuring that action will deliver the goals:

1. Set Greenhouse Gas Emission reduction targets consistent with Victorian Government targets of 25% by 2020, 40% by 2025, 100% by 2050. 

2. Support Renewable Energy in Latrobe City in development/installation, associated jobs/training, business renewable energy adoption, community projects and organisations.

3. Develop an environmental sustainability policy with published target data in annual report.

4. Sign up to the Victorian Government TAKE2 initiative.
