In the 2018-2019 Budget announced recently, VAT (Value added Tax) was raised from 7.5% to 12%. While the government did remove VAT from some breadbasket items, the tax still remains on feminine hygiene products.
Tampons, pads and menstrual cups should be both duty free and VAT free items, as they are necessities. They should have the same status as bread-basket items. Feminine hygiene is not a choice and therefore should not be taxed. Essentially, women are being taxed for being women! It is a gender injustice and we need to fix this. Please help me let the government know that this is not right by signing my petition. We would like to get 1000 signatures minimum and keep growing!
