Encourage Kealakehe Elementary School to Efficiently Utilize $300,000 Received for Parking
Encourage Kealakehe Elementary School to Efficiently Utilize $300,000 Received for Parking
Why this petition matters
Kealakehe Elementary School received $300,000.00 in capital funding for additional parking in 2015, which will lapse (we lose the funds) in June 2018, next month.
It has been decided to encumber these funds by bidding (12) parking spaces in the pre-existing parking lot/ roundabout located at the intersection of Kealakaa/Kumakani (by D field/intermediate), and state if we explore alternative options we would jeopardize the funds.
The objective in starting this petition is to file for an extension and/or ensure the funds are efficiently utilized by providing additional parking. We would like the School, State and DOE to assist in securing the funds, schedule a meeting with school administrators, contractor(s), etc., to re-evaluate the parking addition decision and location of the (12) spaces. We would like to consider alternative options that would be more beneficial to the staff, parents and surrounding community.
There are other options that have been discussed that would provide more than (12) parking spaces in a more favorable vicinity.
