Do you know of any right that a person loses at age 18?  Well, there is one that most Americans lose, which is the right to an education.  To be clear, from a legal standpoint, each state determines how much of a right one has to education, but the U.S. constitution guarantees equal protection under the law, and it is clear that adults don't have this equal protection.  There is no state that funds the education of K-12 knowledge and skills for adults at the same level as that for kids, and most states do not allow adult charter schools.

This costs America greatly.  With a lack of a foundational education for every person in America, we lose social cohesion, we lose economic value, we have increased crime, we have a less informed electorate, and we have parents who cannot provide their children as much of an educational support.

If we want America to be great again, we need all of us, including the adults who were left behind by their education "system", to have the opportunity to learn.  As Barbara Bush said: "The American Dream is about equal opportunity for everyone who works hard. If we don't give everyone the ability to simply read and write, then we aren't giving everyone an equal chance to succeed."
