Why this petition matters

Started by Committee for Civilian-Police Review Board of Allegheny County

Allegheny County has approximately 130 municipalities with over 100 police departments including campus police, Allegheny County Police and Port Authority Police.

Historically, there have been numerous and controversial incidents involving police brutality and misconduct by officers of these numerous police departments.

However, the city of Pittsburgh is the ONLY municipality within Allegheny County which has an active mechanism to receive, process, monitor and facilitate the adjudication of civilian complaints of police brutality and misconduct. It is the only municipality within Allegheny County which has a citizen or civilian police review board.

We seek the active endorsement and support of all Allegheny County public officials in addressing this issue. Therefore, we the undersigned residents of Allegheny County are calling for the creation and empowerment of a Civilian-Police Review Board of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
