Save the Claude Moore Colonial Farm
Save the Claude Moore Colonial Farm
Why this petition matters
The National Park Service has communicated its intent to close the Claude Moore Colonial Farm on Dec. 21, 2018. The Friends of Claude Moore Colonial Farm have launched a public campaign to keep this living history museum and National Park operating and open to the public. The Claude Moore Colonial Farm's mission is to educate the public about early American daily life and agriculture. The Farm authentically recreates how colonists lived and worked in late 18th century Virginia, right before the American Revolution. Since opening to the public in 1973 the Farm has welcomed more than 2 million visitors including families, school groups and others from across the country and internationally. The Claude Moore Colonial Farm is managed by the Friends of Claude Moore Colonial Farm, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, under a cooperative agreement with the National Park Service. As a privately funded and operated National Park the Farm relies on memberships, program income, grants, donations and other means to sustain operations. Visit www.1771.org for more information. Please show your support of the Claude Moore Colonial Farm by signing this petition so that we may continue to provide a highly valuable educational resource to the community.
