Jordi Sànchez and Jordi Cuixart were the first political prisoners imprisoned due to the independence process. They were accused of an alleged crime of sedition and sent to the Soto del Real jail in October 2017.

They are in prison for their political ideas and for exercising their rights to expression and political participation, but they have never used violence. Being deprived of liberty because of these reasons is a violation of international law. That's why we are asking for the Nobel Peace Prize for Jordi Sànchez and Jordi Cuixart. This would be a recognition of their contribution to express the will of Catalonian people.

During these months, los Jordis have remained in prison and the only way to have contact with the outside world have been postal mail and occasional visits. "Our institutions have received an unprecedented attack, and so it has been the answer: more serene than ever, more civic and peaceful participation than ever, but with all the courage and determination," said Jordi Cuixart shortly after he was imprisoned.
