Nella città di Roma, a poca distanza dal centro storico, c’è un’area completamente rinaturalizzata con al suo interno un lago di acqua sorgiva, il Lago dell’Ex Snia. Negli ultimi 5 anni una grande e capillare mobilitazione ha fatto conoscere questi ambienti naturali a migliaia di persone attraverso iniziative, manifestazioni, visite guidate e laboratori. 

Migliaia di abitanti e decine di classi delle scuole romane, di ogni ordine e grado, hanno visitato l'area e hanno potuto conoscerne il valore naturalistico. 

Ricercatori, studiosi, scienziati di tutto il mondo hanno mappato la stupefacente ricchezza della flora e della fauna, che trova rifugio ai margini di uno dei comprensori più inquinati d'Europa. 

Dal 25 aprile del 2016 è possibile vivere e fruire dell'area, aperta al pubblico grazie all'impegno di donne, uomini, giovani e anziani che si riconoscono nel Forum territoriale del Parco delle Energie. In questi anni questa eccezionale partecipazione è stata in grado di capovolgere un ordine degli eventi che prevedeva altra speculazione e altra cementificazione, in un quartiere ormai saturo. 

L'area del lago e della fabbrica Ex Snia rappresentano il modello di una città più vivibile per tutti e tutte. 

Per questo è necessario che la Regione Lazio istituisca il Monumento Naturale nell'area Ex Snia a tutela del rilevante interesse dell'ecosistema e delle specie che lo hanno ricolonizzato. 

La nascita del Monumento naturale prevede la tutela dell'area, la sua salvaguardia, la possibilità di una fruizione costante e in sicurezza da parte dei cittadini.

Molti in questi anni hanno sostenuto questa battaglia, oggi serve un nuova manifestazione di sostegno!

Ai sostenitori del mondo accademico che firmeranno la petizione, chiediamo di indicare tra i commenti anche il proprio ente di riferimento (o mandando una mail a forumenergie@inventati.org).

Informiamo inoltre che la richiesta di contribuire economicamente "perché questa petizione raggiunga chi ha il potere" è un'iniziativa autonoma della piattaforma CHANGE.ORG e con la quale il Forum del Parco delle Energie non ha nulla a che fare e pertanto nessun contributo eventualmente versato arriverà a sostegno del lago.

In 1993, in Rome, Italy, not far from the city historical center, illegal excavations to build a a shopping mall caused a leakage of ground water and a lake formed in the ex Snia Viscosa area, a chemical-textile plant, active between 1923 and 1954. The lake is approximately 1 hectare large and 9 meters deep.

Since then, the Lago ex Snia or Lago di Roma and its surroundings have witnessed an outstanding re-naturalization process, while neighbourhood activists have successfully defended the place from urban speculation.

A section of the area is now a city park, the Parco delle Energie and the Forum del Parco delle Energie, an assembly open to everyone, meets regularly to make collective decisions about the park and the lake.

For years Forum activists have organised demonstrations, marches, guided tours, conferences and workshops to highlight the area’s importance, its ecological biodiversity and cultural significance. Thousands of people, among them a large number of students, have visited and appreciated the place.

Scientists and researchers have mapped an extraordinary abundance of flora and fauna. The area is a valuable stepping stone for migratory birds and a site where several plant species are recreating natural habitats: this process is all the more remarkable, in that it is present in one of Rome’s most densely populated neighbourhood.

Since April 2016 the Forum activists have ensured regular opening hours and the maintenance of the lake area, funded solely by the citizens’ free contributions. Their commitment, an example of governance from below, has so far compensated institutional disinterest from the Rome municipality and the Lazio Region.

Now a new effort is required.
The Forum del Parco delle Energie, together with various environmental associations, has requested the Regione Lazio to formally recognize the ecological and cultural value of the whole ex Snia area, as Natural Monument, so as to preserve its cultural heritage and precious ecosystems and to improve the wellbeing of the city inhabitants.

To give more strength to the request, the Forum is asking for the support of all the people who believe in the importance of this action.

The Forum of the Parco delle Energie informs petitioners that the call for economic contribution "in order for the petition to reach whoever has the power to accept it", is an independent initiative by CHANGE.ORG. The Forum has nothing to do with that decision and therefore it will not benefit from any possible financial contribution.
