This petition is started after recent town approval on a crematorium operation to be constructed at 63 NORTH MAIN STREET Deer Lake.

The photo above shows smoke coming from a crematorium currently operating in Stephenville submitted to the media by a concerned resident who lives right behind it.

We feel a crematorium operation should not be located near residential/school areas because we feel there can be health hazards associated with the process of burning remains like Toxins/Particulate matter and Mercury vapours as there is not enough scientific research or evidence to prove otherwise.

We also feel it should be located in an industrial area to prevent possible exposure to people and children and also prevent people living with anxiety or fear because of the stigma such a practice does carry.
