Why this petition matters

Started by The London Vape Company

Smoking has caused irreparable damage across the world for hundreds of years, but only in our recent history has the true extent of the harms of tobacco been discovered. But, despite the research, restrictive legislation and social changes, smoking is still wildly prevalent.

This is where vaping and E-Cigarettes come in.

Vaping and E-Cigarettes provide a much safer alternative to smoking, acting as an attractive quitting tool for smokers struggling to give up a seriously harmful habit. Using safely produced and controlled E-liquids, Vapers can enjoy the simulation of smoking with an enormous reduction in harm to themselves and those around them.

Don’t believe us?

The department of Epidemiology and Public Health at UCL found E-cigarettes are up to 97% safer than smoking. (https://www.thevapecig.co.uk/news/e-cigarettes-97-safer-smoking-according-new-study/

The Department of Family Medicine and Public Health of the University of California found that in 2016, 42% of US smokers quit with the help of E-Cigarettes. (https://www.thevapecig.co.uk/news/42-us-smokers-successfully-quit-ecigs/

In the UK, it helped more than 18,000 people quit in 2015, according to Cancer Research UK. (https://www.thevapecig.co.uk/news/vaping-helps-18000-extra-people-quit-2015/

Not only that, but vaping is cheaper too, saving the average smoker an estimated £2500 per year. (https://www.thevapecig.co.uk/news/smoke-or-save/

So why is Vaping being banned from social media platforms and advertising?

Numerous social media sites have banned the advertising of E-Cigarettes, leading to many smokers remaining unware of the vaping industry and how it can help them. Worse still, businesses like ours, which specialise in assisting our customers in smoking cessation, are stigmatised despite already crushing restrictions on the industry. (https://www.thevapecig.co.uk/news/will-vaping-restrictions/

Post on Instagram and Facebook are now hidden to users if they relate to vaping. With these prominent platforms removed, vaping is practically invisible.

What does that mean for you?

It means that the vaping industry is suffering. With retailers unable to promote E-cigarettes and the benefits they provide, businesses are starting to close their doors. With businesses falling behind, smokers looking to quit will no longer be able to benefit, and the best tool to quit smoking may be lost for good.

Despite factual, clinical research showing the benefits of E-cigarettes and Vaping, we suffer harsh regulations and trading standards that diminish our ability to operate. With social media blocking our ability to promote Vaping, we will lose one of the only places where we can interact with our customers.

If we can’t advertise, we can’t keep this industry running. People will continue to suffer from smoking, the NHS will bear the costs and smokers will still die young.

If we can turn this choice around, we can keep E-Cigarettes in the public eye. That means more research, more quitters and a healthier future for all of us.

We ask for your support, smoker, vaper or neither, to allow Vaping to rid the world of smoking once, and for all.
