We love to listen to our ABC's music stations online.

Not all stations are available free to air or have a bad reception for many people, so listening online has become the thing to do.

Unfortunately the sound quality is poor for people with an ear for music due to the very low bitrate of 96kbs and a lot of us turn to other stations with better quality streams rather than supporting our own ABC.

We realise that streaming at a higher bitrate costs a little bit more money but what is the point of providing a service to and for music lovers if they tune out.

We therefore ask the ABC to consider one of two ways to improve the quality of their music streams:

Increase the bitrate to a minimum of 192 kbs for your music stations

Or even better

Offer your streams with selectable bitrates and/or codecs (great option for mobile users)

It is 2018 now and the NBN rollout is in full swing, 4g is ubiquitous, 5g is coming; so dear Aunty please go with the times and retain your listeners!
