In India, car registration details are publicly available without restriction from a database maintained by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways through a national register. There are plenty of apps available on iOS and Android that allows anyone who sees a woman drive by to enter her car's registration number and get her full name and details about the car. They can then easily search for that name on social networking platforms and professional networking sites like LinkedIn to find out where she works and maybe even where she lives.

This is a big risk to any woman driver on the road and even to male drivers in case they get into an argument or tiff with anyone on the road. This is a clear and dangerous violation of our fundamental right to privacy and this data needs to be restricted as soon as possible to prevent misuse.

Our wives, sisters, mothers and friends should be able to drive without fear of being stalked.
