Why this petition matters

Started by Steff Smith

The Superintendent for Camden Central Schools put together a presentation about why he thinks it's a good idea to close Annsville Elementary School. The public was invited to attend. He said there is a $1.5 million budget gap between expenditures and revenues, and he said if they closed the school, they would save $800,000.

They are looking to send all the children in the Annsville Elementary School to the Camden Elementary School. The Pre-K program for the Entire distract would be at Mcconnellsville Elementary. The Pre-K children who live in the Annsville or Camden area would have to ride the regular bus to Camden at Camden they would switch to another bus/shuttle to get to Mcconnellsville.

The superintendent didn't look at any alternative plans. Like redistricting, adding proper busing, cutting cost elsewhere, and They also didn't look to the future enrollment passed the up coming year, meaning if in the next few years if enrollment spikes how would we accommodate these children?

Please sign the petition to Keep Annsville Open until a better plan is presented as well as possible alternative plans. This should not be a rushed process and whats in the best interest of the children should be to in account as well as saving money.
