The proposed closure of Riversdale surgery in Wylam will mean a substantial reduction in GP provision in Wylam and surrounding villages north of the Tyne in East Tynedale. For people with mobility issues, lack of personal transport, long-term chronic illness, this will constitute a major problem. Local public transport is inadequate to allow patients to travel to Prudhoe, Ponteland or Throckley (the nearest GP practices apart from the White practice in Wylam). 

We call upon NHS England, in the event of the closure of Riversdale practice, to secure at least the current level of GP service in this area.
