Ashbridges Bay Skatepark is the largest and busiest Skatepark in southern Ontario. It is classified as a city wide Skatepark and is used extensively by people of all ages, skill levels, and multiple user groups. According to the Toronto skatepark user survey, it is by far the most popular skatepark in Toronto and attracts users from all over the city and the GTA.

Typically a facility of this size would include a variety of supporting amenities including lights, water fountains, shade structures, seating, washrooms and parking. From surveys and discussions with local skateboarders, we have identified lights as a priority improvement for Ashbridges Bay Skatepark. The addition of lights would greatly improve the usability of this skatepark as it will allow skateboarders to use this facility in the early evening in the spring and fall when the sun sets early and later into the evening on hot summer nights.

Skateboarding is included in the 2020 Olympics and we anticipate continued growth in participation levels in the coming years. As it takes many years to plan for new facilities, we must also take smaller steps to improve our existing skateparks.
