The Decision

On October 26, 2017 the Fairfax County School Board voted to change the name to Justice High School, this vote was against the vote the students made and was a violation of the students voices. The board is going against their own policy and is picking on only one School , what about Woodson , Lee or any other schools named after slave masters. The FCPS Board says they build the county one student at a time when they actually disregard the voice of the students.

 

The Community Vote

In a local community vote done on local residents that would be affected by the cost of the name change the highest voted name was Stuart followed by Thurgood Marshall. Justice was not even in the list of top 5 names voted by  the students, the board say it’s a compromise but we voted for the compromise STUART not Justice. Justice was a name that was combined with 7 other variations of its type but still had less votes compared to the name Stuart !

Problems:

• Small classrooms,
• low quality lunches,
• pest control, hungry students,
• lack of study material .

If we keep the STUART name that WE voted for Our friends could have food at home and money could be spent on other important things rather than a name that the students don’t like!

Sandy Evans

 This petition shall also be support to remove Sandy Evans, fix our county and bring back our beautiful name! Sandy Evans the Mason District Representative promoted the change of the name and also promoted the corrupted process to decide the name of our school! The board is well aware they went against policies and regulations but they still believe they did the right thing and this is where we need your help!

It's Not Only About The Name Anymore

Although you may not agree with the name JEB Stuart, we can all agree that we want our voices to be heard and that we want our county members to work and complete the actions they promised us when we voted for them, Instead of bringing together the community like the Fairfax County Board wanted they caused a major divisiveness in the school environment, distracting the students from learning which is also a crime. 

The Message to the Next and Current Generation 

If we allow the county to move on with this illegal decision, we will be showing our future and current generation that we do not care about their voices and opinions, If we take action now we will give a message that they should never give up until they get what they wanted or until they got what was right. As community members capable of making change, it is our duty to pave a path for our future generations so they do not have to live and learn under a school system that does not care about the voices of them.

El 26 de octubre de 2017, la Junta Escolar del Condado de Fairfax votó a favor de cambiar el nombre a Justice High School, este voto fue en contra del voto de los estudiantes y fue una violación de las voces de los estudiantes. La junta va en contra de su propia política y está escogiendo solo una escuela, ¿qué pasa con Woodson, Lee o cualquier otra escuela nombrada después de maestros de esclavos? La Junta de FCPS dice que construyen el condado un estudiante a la vez cuando en realidad ignoran la voz de los estudiantes.

El voto comunitario
En una votación de la comunidad local sobre los residentes locales que se vería afectada por el costo del cambio de nombre, el nombre más votado fue Stuart seguido de Thurgood Marshall. La justicia ni siquiera estaba en la boleta electoral para los estudiantes, el consejo dice que es un compromiso, pero votamos por el compromiso STUART y no por Justicia.

Si mantenemos el nombre de STUART por el que votamos, ¡Nuestros amigos podrían tener comida en casa y se podría gastar dinero en otras cosas importantes en lugar de en un nombre que a los estudiantes no les gusta!

¡Esta petición también ayudará a eliminar a Sandy Evans, arreglar nuestro condado y traer de vuelta nuestro hermoso nombre! Sandy Evans el Representante del Distrito de Mason promovió el cambio del nombre y también promovió el proceso corrupto para decidir el nombre de nuestra escuela. La junta es consciente de que van en contra de las políticas y regulaciones, pero aún creen que hicieron lo correcto y aquí es donde necesitamos su ayuda.

No se trata solo del nombre más
Aunque no esté de acuerdo con el nombre de JEB Stuart, todos podemos estar de acuerdo en que queremos que se escuchen nuestras voces y que queremos que los miembros de nuestro condado trabajen y completen las acciones que nos prometieron cuando los votamos, en lugar de reunir al Una comunidad como la Junta del Condado de Fairfax quería que causara una gran división en el ambiente escolar, distrayendo a los estudiantes de lo que también es un crimen.
El mensaje a la generación siguiente y actual
Si permitimos que el condado avance con esta decisión ilegal, mostraremos a nuestra generación actual y futura que no nos importan sus voces y opiniones. Si tomamos medidas ahora, les transmitiremos un mensaje de que nunca deben darse por vencidos hasta obtienen lo que querían o hasta que obtuvieron lo que era correcto. Como miembros de la comunidad capaces de hacer cambios, es nuestro deber abrir un camino para nuestras futuras generaciones para que no tengan que vivir y aprender bajo un sistema escolar que no se preocupa por las voces de ellos.
