Why this petition matters

Started by Concerned Citizens for Avila

Our biggest challenge in prioritizing safety in Avila is ensuring new development follows a well-researched General PIan that reflects community input.

In recent years, we have seen proposals for excessively large development, including the most recent for 15,000 homes in Wild Cherry Canyon

The update of the Avila General Plan in process will not be finished for another 3-4 years. Our safety is likely to be significantly compromised by allowing new development to proceed before the General Plan is adopted.

Please help the Concerned Citizens for Avila put the brakes on unreasonable development by signing our petition!

Our Petition: I am very concerned about potential approval of large new development applications prior to an enacted Update of Avila’s General Plan. I request under California Government Code 65858 that the San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors adopt as an urgency measure an interim ordinance prohibiting any uses that may be in conflict with the contemplated General Plan. I am opposed to approval of unreasonable development that negatively affects Avila roads and infrastructure.
