The residents of Underwood Hills Neighborhood hereby petition the recent continuous use of the CSX Howell Station which is adjacent to several residential housing developments. Starting December of 2017, CSX has increased activity on the changing station rails from minimal use to operating 24/7.  

The noise from the changing of the boxcars is unbearable to residents and owners in the Underwood Hills neighborhood. The noise is especially unbearable during all hours of the night. Sound coming from the train yard includes screeching of wheels, loud banging from the cars connecting and the constant humming of the engines pulling the cars.

This activity is causing a huge disruption in everyday lives, especially not being able to sleep at night because of the noise, in addition to affecting residential values in the area. The overflow of trains now at Howell Station is dangerous and potentially an environmental hazard. We are petitioning that CSX move the trains back to the Tilford Yard Station which is the industrialized train yard and an industrial area. Howell Station is surrounded by residential.
