Save Citizens Advice Cornwall
Why this petition matters
The future of the Citizens Advice Cornwall charity is under threat because of a proposed 53% cut in the grant it receives from Cornwall Council from £356k to £153k.
This could lead to closure of seven of the nine offices, meaning people will have to travel many miles for help. The number of staff and volunteers will also have to be drastically reduced.
We're asking the council to think again so Citizens Advice can continue to provide free, independent and impartial advice on debt, benefits, housing, employment and many other issues to people who are already struggling to cope in one of the poorest parts of the country.
Citizens Advice helped more than 19,000 people last year and with the introduction of the Government's new Universal Credit benefits system in Cornwall in 2018, demand for the service is expected to increase.
