Petition for Ho Duy Hai (xem bản tiếng Việt ở dưới)

Vietnamese authorities must stop the wrongful death penalty of Mr. Ho Duy Hai because he is innocent!

To

International Human Rights Organizations
Embassies, Consulates in Vietnam
Bloggers of Social Media

December 12th 2017,

Dear Sir, Madam,

On December 25, 2014, a group of people who support peace and justice have signed a petition, urging Human Rights organizations and Embassies to denounce and oppose the wrongful death penalty of prisoner Mr. Ho Duy Hai, please see attached petition.

Facing the angry reactions of the international communities and the human rights organizations who expressed concern regarding the wrongful death penalty of Mr. Ho Duy Hai, the Vietnamese authorities have postponed the case, supposedly to review it.

Three years have since passed, we have learned that the Long An People's Court has been unable to provide any conclusive evidence to support Mr Hai’s conviction. Nevertheless, we have recently received information that Ho Duy Hai's execution will be carried out within a few days.

For those of us who believe in justice and human rights this is:

1. A naked contempt for the rule of law;
2. A blatant violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights;
3. A total disregard for role of the United Nations Human Rights Commission;
4. A challenge to the conscience of everyone who believes in justice.

We therefore once again urgently call upon human rights organizations, representatives of the embassies, the consulates in Vietnam and the bloggers of social media to condemn strongly the Vietnamese authorities and demand for the release of the prisoner Ho Duy Hai immediately and unconditionally.

We, who believe in justice, just can not sit and do nothing, therefore allowing the Vietnamese authorities to kill innocent people. We are going to take action today to protect human rights. Please act now!

All signed

Respecfully yours,
Vietnam Human Rights Foundation

1. Một hành vi sỉ nhục công lý;
2. Một hành vi xâm phạm bản tuyên ngôn Quốc Tế Nhân Quyền;
3. Một hành vi miệt thị vai trò của Ủy Ban Nhân quyền Liên Hiệp Quốc;
