Why this petition matters

Started by Esther Ford

This is a direct response to the news that the CONVICTED RAPIST Ched Evans has not only been let out early on licence, despite never repenting for his crime, he has now returned to training at his former club, Sheffield United AT THE SPECIFIC REQUEST OF THE PFA!

Everyone employed by a league club must go through CRB checks.  If the guidelines were changed so that clubs could not employ anyone currently on the UK Sex Offenders Register this would silence this debate once and for all, and be a major victory for the campaign to protect victims and expose rape as the heinous act that it is.

Excluding sex-offenders from League Football would act not only as a deterrent to any footballers who may abuse their position in this way, but also as a useful educational tool for Britain's young men, for whom professional footballers are a major role model.

Playing for a League Club is a huge privilege and those in this privileged position need to be worthy of such adulation.

N.B. Prince William is the official President of The FA, in case anyone was wondering why he has been listed as a petitionee
