Why this petition matters

1.     Please, CITES should issue a ban / moratorium on Japan dolphin hunting and trading until the Japanese government(日本政府) provides CITES with the updated information on the dolphin population in Japanese coastal waters. Taiji fishermen expressly stated that all the remaining dolphins had better die because they do not care about the issue of extinction.

2..    From 1944 to 2014, in the last 70 years, over a million small cetaceans have been killed in direct hunts in Japan.

3.    From 2000-2014 18599 dolphins were killed or taken for live captivity by Taiji JAPAN alone. (excluding the death tolls in other coastal regions)

4.    In the past 20 years, around 26570 dolphins were killed or taken for live capitivity by Taiji alone  (excluding the death tolls in other coastal regions)
