Why this petition matters

Started by Michelle Radke

Lake Erie and Huntington Beach is no stranger to deaths caused by "Rip Tides/Surges".  The general public needs to be informed about what these look like, the dangers that they create for a swimmer, and how the swimmer can avoid and get to safety.  Swimmers also need to be aware of the dangers to the body in cold water temperatures.  Education is key to teach swimmers how to successfully identify and swim out of a "Rip Tide/Surge" and identify key indicators of hypothermia caused by low water temperatures.
