“The miracle of Canna which came back and bloomed in the scorched earth after the atomic bombing at Hiroshima” has been forgotten by the Japanese for 60 years.  Please do not remove the “photo of this miracle Canna” from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum which is narrated by Yoshinaga Sayuri (famous Japanese actress who won four Japan Academy Best Actress awards).

Have you ever heard about nuclear weapons had once been used in the war?

In 1945, the atomic bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki took away many precious lives of the general citizens in just a second.  One month later, in the scorched earth 820m away from ground zero, Canna blossomed in bright red colour and it is no doubt to believe that it gave people courage and hope to live.

However, because of the rebuild of the city, the blossomed Canna was also being forgotten.

In 2004, a University Lecturer (Riho Tachibana) who teaches Japanese culture visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and noticed the “photo of this miracle Canna”.  She then revived this bright red Canna to the modern world by passing the bulbs of Canna that were wholeheartedly grown by the children in Japan to the rest of the world.  Since it is carried out completely at her own expense, the pace of activity is therefore limited.  Nevertheless, the “Baton of Peace through Canna Relay” has connected countries including the United States, France, Vatican, Spain, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Australia, Canada and Hong Kong.

Regarding the atomic bombings, the Japanese did not take any revenges and the happening of the endless revenge is therefore avoided.

Riho Tachibana is using Canna as the baton of peace to realise her hope of “Canna can be blossomed in the hearts of people all over the world”.  In additions, she also believes that the peace baton Canna can result in a peaceful world at the time when the earth is fully covered by Canna like a red carpet. This miracle Canna which bloomed in the scorched earth after the atomic bombing at Hiroshima has been forgotten by the human.  A photo that is being exhibiting at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum evidenced this miracle.  However, this photo will be removed 2 years later due to the museum renewal works.  Discovery of this photo is also a miracle.  Please continue to display this precious photo in the museum or somewhere so that everyone is able to take a look at it. People from all around the world please come to visit Hiroshima.  May I ask your participation in the signature of requesting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum to continue to display the “photo of this miracle Canna”.  

It is not possible to make a peaceful world by just one country.  The flower language of Canna is “the steady future”.  This is exactly how Canna has tried her best to blossom even she was blown by blast of the atomic bomb.
