Here's the key facts:

*Round Rock Kia salesperson Marissa Garza posts ad on Craigslist for a $17 2013 Kia Optima on 12/13/2013.

*I see that ad 12 hours later.

*My mother and I go to Round Rock Kia asking for the car mentioned in the ad.  We are shown 2 other Optimas - not the 35,000 mile car mentioned.

 *When asked about the $17.00 car, another salesperson was in disbelief. When shown evidence of their ad, Derek Martinez took it to the private offices and shredded our property without my permission. When asked to pay for the damages, Derek condescendingly told us, "no".

*The Floor Manager, Derek Martinez, first says that the car mentioned in the ad was sold the day before. 

*When asked to present proof of sale, Derek Martinez admits that the car never existed.

The Bottom Line - To teach Round Rock Kia a lesson, and to put ALL car dealerships on notice, please sign this petition.  Round Rock Kia, honor your ad! Sell me the car for the amount your salesperson listed - $17!

 

On December 13, 2013, we saw an ad on Craigslist.org for a 2013 Kia Optima with 35,000 miles. The price on it was $17. We expect to pay no more than this because it is the listed price. But, when we went to Round Rock Kia on Saturday, December 14, 2013, the Floor Manager, Derek Martinez, tried to say it was the salesperson’s, Marissa Garza’s, fault. He tried to blame it on her inexperience as a salesperson, even though by law they are still liable. They had all day to correct their "mistake" before we could even see the ad, but they didn't. They also had an ad a week earlier with a similar pitch, but for $30.

Derek tried to show us other vehicles which were listed for higher prices. We refused to look at any other vehicles, except the one in the advertisement. Derek even went as far as to tell us that the car in the advertisement never existed. There was not a 2013 Kia Optima with 35,000 miles on their lot. While we were showing Derek evidence of the ad he took it to his private office and shredded our property. When we demanded Derek to pay us back for the damage, he condescendingly told us, “no.” 

 

When we asked to see Ms. Garza, we were told they didn't know where she was but, she was there that day, December 14th 2013. We asked this at approximately 11:45 AM CST, their sales floor opens at 9:00 AM CST.  There is such a thing as "Bait-and-Switch", but there is a line when it is just False Advertisement, which is also illegal. And it is obvious that they were committing both crimes. We, as the people, have to stop the injustice that auto dealerships are proned to do. We have to make them pay (literally) for their inappropriate, and down-right criminal behavior. If we don't, we are own fault for being victims of their crimes.

 

Also, I'm not the only one complaining, here is another testimony of their incriminating sales tactics: "'Disgusting Sales Tactics & Practices by Round Rock KIA' - Today I was called by a woman from 512-617-5000 saying she worked at Round Rock KIA and she saw my ad on craigslist & wanted to know if I wanted to buy a new car instead of fixing mine. I had an ad posted looking for a mobile mechanic to do a repair on my car. So these people use that as a sales tactic opportunity to solicit business. That is DISGUSTING!!!!! Who are they to invade my privacy because they want to sell cars. I have never contacted in any form for a car or repair.
