Austin Knight has inappropriately involved Town Manager, the Police Chief, the Acting Police Chief and other staff in political activity. He has also violated and conspired with Town Staff who violated the Hatch act, State and local elections laws.  He has abused his office by attempting to cover up this activity by manipulating the Board of Selectmen agenda, by refusing to order or allow investigations and by allowing the Town Manager to violate her duty to properly investigate incidents regarding the election and the police department.  And finally he refused to recuse himself until after he had attempted to lobby his board for personal gain.

We therefore ask him to resign immediately as a Board member. If he refuses to do this we will initiate recall. We ask him to spare the town this necessary but otherwise inevitable process.  If he does not, we call on the BOS to remove him as Chair, to remove him as representative to the Cape Cod Commission, to censure him in the strongest possible terms and to petition the State Democratic Party to expel him and/or remove him as Provincetown Representative.
